42 Monthly Renaissance November 2021 Ḥ ad ī th Narrative on “Adh ā n for a New Born for Relief” Dr Shehzad Saleem I Introduction Consider the following narrative: ﺣ ﺛ ﺪ ﻨ ﺎﺟ ة ﺎر ﺒ ﺣ ﺛ ﺪ ْ ﺎﻳ ﻨ ﺤ Æl ْ ﺑ ﻟْ ﻦ ﻌ ﻶﻹء ﻋ ﻦْ ﻣ ْ و ﺮ ﺑْ ن ﻢٍ ﺎﻟ ﻦﺳ ﻋ ﻦْ ﻃ ْ ﻠ ﺤ ﺑْ ﺔ ﻦ ﻋ ْ ﺒ ﻴ ٰ ﺪ ﷲ- , ﻦْ ﻋ ﺣ ﻗ ' (ْ ﺴ ﻗ ﺎل ر ﺎل ٰ ل ﻮْ ﺳ ﷲ- , ﺻ }% ٰ ﷲ- , ﻋ ْ ﻠ ﻴ و ﻪ ﺳ ﻢ ﻠ ﻣ و ﻦْ ﻟ ﻟ ﺪ ﻓ ﻪ ذ ﺎ & ن ﻧ ذ % ﻟْ ﻪ ﻤْ ﻴ ƒl ﻗ و & ﺎم ﻧ ذ % ﻟْ ﻪ ْ ﻴ Ç R ﻢْ ىﻟ ‘ ¹ R ه م ْ ﻟﺼ ﺒ ﻴ ﺎن Ḥ usayn ibn ‘Al ī stated that God’s Messenger said: “He to whom a child was born and he sounded the adh ā n in his right ear and the iq ā mah in the left, then the child would never be inflicted with [the ailment of] umm al- ṣ iby ā n .” 1 II Critical Analysis Following is the schematic illustration of the variants of this narrative’s isn ā d : Mu ḥ ammad Ḥ usayn ibn ‘Al ī Ṭ al ḥā ibn ‘Ubaydull ā h Marw ā n ibn S ā lim Ya ḥ y ā ibn al-‘Ul ā Jabb ā rah Ab ū Ya‘l ā Ibn ‘As ā kir 1.
